Senior legislator collects opinion on revision to Tourism Law in Inner Mongolia
Xiao Jie, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, led a team to North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region from Sept 23 to 27 to collect suggestions on revising the Tourism Law.
The team visited Hohhot, Hulunbuir and Xing'an League to conduct on-site surveys on the implementation of the Tourism Law and the development of the tourism sector. They also held symposiums in Hohhot and Hailar district of Hulunbuir to listen to relevant reports and solicit opinions and suggestions on the revision to the law.
After listening to reports by representatives from Inner Mongolia on the implementation of the Tourism Law and the opinions and suggestions on its amendment, Xiao, on behalf of the team, fully affirmed the region's efforts in implementing the law and accelerating the high-quality development of the tourism sector.
He emphasized the necessity of thoroughly summarizing progress and experience in the implementation of the Tourism Law, focusing on the task of building China into a country strong in tourism and carrying out further study to identify the key parts of the law that need revision, based on the new situations and new issues arising in the development of the tourism sector, so as to improve the legislation in a targeted, applicable and operable manner.
Efforts should be made to protect and rationally utilize tourism resources, follow the principle of integrating social, economic and ecological benefits, hold the bottom line of safety and deepen law-based reform in a bid to push for the long-term, stable and high-quality development of the tourism sector, he added.
